Part-Time Tennis Instructor
Fall 2021

Outstanding part-time job as a Tennis Instructor with long-time U.S.P.T.A.-certified instructor, coach, and former highly ranked junior player Alexander Winslow and the Winslow Tennis Academy.   The job is highly paid, has convenient hours, a nearby El Cerrito location, and an informal and positive work environment.

Tennis is a great sport experiencing a popularity boom, so this part-time position can be an excellent financial situation for someone who knows and enjoys the sport of tennis.  The position also entails responsibility for the safety and well-being of children, including, but not limited to, our covid health and safety practices.  Accordingly, the job is for more mature high schoolers, college students, and young adults.

The Winslow Tennis Academy has been established for years in Berkeley and El Cerrito as a popular small business, positive community asset, and highly regarded tennis academy with a thriving junior development program.  winslowtennisacademy.com

Work schedule tailored to individual’s schedule:  Days and hours for weekly tennis classes depend upon the mutual availability of the instructor, the students, and the tennis court.  There also can be some flexibility regarding the specific El Cerrito tennis location.

Excellent Compensation:  Pay is $20/hour for Instructors Ages 16 and 17, higher for Ages 18-and-above, and higher again for Instructors with formal tennis instruction experience and/or a U.S.P.T.A. certification.   All candidates do a few hours of on-court paid training, including individually and in a class setting, prior to starting as Instructor with their own classes. Paid training is $20/hour for those Ages 18-and-above, and $15/hour for those Ages 16 and 17.

Informal Work Environment:  Outdoors, informal, and kid-centric, but also responsible and professional.   Lessons for children participating in my academy are meant to be fun, active, a little bit challenging, supportive, and instructional.  There is no extra time required for the Instructor outside the lessons. Alexander handles all communications with the parents, emails, scheduling, court reservations, and billing.

Profile of the Successful Candidate:    The individual needs to enjoy the sport of tennis and have some understanding and ability with sound stroke mechanics, technique, and footwork.  More important, they need to be mature and responsible, and always positive and patient with children.  They also need to be able to communicate clearly and effectively with participants and/or parents as needed during lessons.

Not needed;  The individual does not need to have an extremely high level of tennis skill, nor do they need previous experience as a tennis instructor.
